Drug Uses

Seroquel belongs to a new generation of antipsychotic drugs, also known as atypical antipsychotic agents. In contrast to old-generation antipsychotic agents, Seroquel rarely causes extrapyramidal reaction, so it is preferred for treatment of chronic mental pathologies such as:

Bipolar disorder

Schizophrenia

Seroquel pills can also be used to prevent recurrent episodes of depression and mania stage II.
Seroquel effective dosage regimen should consider any other drugs administration, previous treatment, and disease severity. Seroquel tablets to be administered once or twice a day, at regular intervals. The initial recommended dosage of Seroquel is 50 or 100 mg per day, and can be gradually increased to 800mg per day.

Missed dose
If just few hours passed after a missed dose of Seroquel, take the pill of the atypical antipsychotic as soon as possible. If you remembered about the missed dose of Seroquel in the evening, do not take the atypical antipsychotic at all. Return to the regular dosing schedule on the next day.

Seroquel tablets are intended for treatment of psychiatric disorders in patients over 10 years of age. Seroquel is indicated alone as part of the combination antipsychotic program.

Storage conditions for atypical antipsychotic Seroquel: room temperature between 15º and 30ºC.

Warnings

Despite Seroquel causes fewer extrapyramidal reactions, comparing to other antipsychotic compounds, these risks cannot be completely excluded. As a rule, reversible extrapyramidal effects may appear in the first few weeks of application or due to a sudden increase in the daily dosage of Seroquel.

Seroquel Side Effects

In most cases, there are no serious side effects from using Seroquel.
