Drug Uses

Desyrel is a psychoactive drug used for the treatment of psychiatric disorders in patients 18 years and older. Desyrel has antidepressant and sedative effects and it is approved for treatment of:

• major depressive disorder (MDR)
• major depression accompanied by anxiety

Desyrel helps to quickly relieve psychic and somatic symptoms of anxiety, as well as to improve emotional status, mood and quality of sleep.

• The maximum daily dose of Desyrel for the treatment of psychiatric disorders at home is 300mg.
• When treating anxiety and /or depression in clinic, the daily dose of Desyrel can be increased up to 600mg.
• When using high doses of Desyrel, the total daily dose should be divided into several intakes.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of your antidepressant, take Desyrel tablet as soon as you remember about it. However, if it is time for the next dose of Desyrel, take the dose of your antidepressant at the usual time and return to the assigned dosing regimen.

More Information

Desyrel may reduce cravings for alcohol, but it is not approved for the treatment of alcohol dependence. Patients, who abuse alcohol, are recommended to use Desyrel to relieve symptoms of mixed anxiety and depression only during alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

Storage

Desyrel tablets must be kept in an original tight container in a warm dry place. The recommended storage temperature is 15°C-30°C.

Warnings

At the beginning of antidepressant therapy and when changing the daily doses of Desyrel, the risk of suicidal ideation and behavior can be increased in patients with major depressive disorder. This side effect may occur at any age, but mostly children and adolescents are at risk group. A few months after the start of depression treatment, the risk of suicidal thoughts, plans or behaviors is significantly reduced.
